ARCHICAD 22 - BIM inside and out

ARCHICAD 22 delivers design tool improvements and introduces enhanced design workflow processes. These represent significant performance improvements and productivity enhancements to its core design processes as well as to multidisciplinary collaborative workflows.

Features

Facade Design ARCHICAD's remastered Façade Design workflow enables architects to design, develop and detail hierarchical curtain wall systems with great freedom using modular patterns. The design happens with a natural graphical input in the most natural design environment in 3D or 2D elevations, while ARCHICAD ensures the curtain wall system is structurally correct and adheres to local requirements for documenting and listing.
Faster & smoother 2D navigation ARCHICAD 22 introduces significant performance improvements, focusing on a smooth and truly responsive 2D panning and zooming navigation experience for projects of any size.
Parametric Custom Profiles ARCHICAD 22’s Parametric Custom Profiles combines the power of parametric design with the freedom of graphical profile creation.
Expression Based Properties ARCHICAD 22 allows you to use logical expressions to derive new properties and property values that depend on the element’s own parameters. This new function greatly enriches the information -- or “I” component -- of BIM. Its automatic workflow lets you define any calculation rule as an element property value and update it automatically, without time-consuming and error-prone manual data entry.
Productivity and Workflow Enhancements ARCHICAD 22 brings several productivity improvements, providing easier and more intuitive building design, faster and more precise construction documentation, more accurate schedules and cost estimation.

Best BIM program atm

Setting your own pens and working correct with your stories will save you lots of time at the end

Well since its an all around solution I don't have to switch between programs all the time in order to finalise a project and also only need a licence for one program.

Pros

It is an all in one solution for every architecture project. From services, drafting, initial design to high end rendering. The best feature is its 3D navigation that allows to edit everything on 3D. Also its available for free to students.

Cons

The morph tool could be a bit more user friendly. Also is really difficult if you want to design a spiral form that progressively expands in diameter

A mature and flexible architectural BIM system

Still innovating after more than 20+ years on the market. Stubborn on some levels, but very clever on others. The only real BIM software running on OSX as well. First and foremost oriented to architectural design. Good supporter for OpenBIM and IFC.

Architectural design, historical reconstruction with good integration of drawings and models. Good model export to visualisation and animation software. We currently started to develop custom Add-ins in my company, based on client demand.

Pros

It has a very well thought-out approach to modelling, with flexible, parametric objects, extensive presentation capabilities for finishing drawings in 2D and 3D, efficient publishing workflow, advanced TeamWork collaboration and excellent IFC support. Priority based connections and building materials make the models well-formed and usable, with little drafting tricks. Models can be assembled as modules and it integrates well with other applications. And it runs on Windows and OSX.

Cons

The SDK is hard to get into and GDL is not for all end users. Add-ons are limited and seem to phase out quickly if not commercially viable.

The best BIM software for Architecture Projects

The main advantage of Archicad is its ability to easily compile all information regarding a project. Business wise this is a great advantage due to its time saving factor.

In our company for example, we've estimated that, passing from Autocad to Archicad as saved around 30% of project work time.

Pros

Archicad is extremely user friendly, great flexibility in 3D personalisation, and interchange with other softwares for rendering.

The libraries are quite good but the best is the easiness to personalise any detail of your project.

I particularly like the ability to share and edit projects with co-workers.

Listings for working Drawings are extremely time saving

Very good organisation of files and export abilities.

Cons

The only thing I dislike is the inability of the software to handle complex projects.
